A professional familiarisation programme for young specialists was held at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome.
As part of the programme, the competition winners learned about the work of FAO’s Plant Production and Protection Division. Hafiz Muminjanov, an adviser to the Division, provided an overview of international initiatives aimed at safeguarding plant health, increasing crop productivity, and promoting sustainable agricultural development.
The young specialists also explored the work of FAO’s Agrifood Economics and Policy Division, gaining insights into advanced approaches to agricultural economics, food policy, and evidence-based, effective decision-making in the agricultural sector.
Direct engagement with FAO experts and an in-depth examination of global agricultural challenges and contemporary solutions are helping the participants broaden their professional knowledge, strengthen their strategic thinking, and translate international best practices into practical applications.
The primary objective of this initiative is to develop a new generation of professionals in agriculture and water management who possess not only strong technical expertise but also a forward-looking mindset, the ability to propose innovative solutions, and the capacity to make a meaningful contribution to the development of Uzbekistan’s agrarian sector.
