In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to enhance efficiency, proactivity, and responsibility in the system of public administration," the Agency for Governance efficiency was established on the basis of the Agency for the Development of Public Service.

In its activities, the agency adheres to the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decisions of the chambers of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decrees, resolutions and orders of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decisions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as to these regulations and other legislative acts.
